Michael D. Cavanaugh, P.E., President
Michael Cavanaugh brings extreme organization, focused creative drive and collaborative energy to every project he undertakes. In addition, Michael perfected his skills during his eighteen years in the nuclear power industry where his success is measured in his quick problem solving capabilities.

Since launching MDC Machine Design Construction in 2002, Michael has completed many large-scale projects for the U.S. Navy and General Dynamics Electric Boat. He has also furnished Pfizer Research & Development with numerous machines and devices for pharmaceutical research in areas including veterinary medicine, clinical trials and drug formulation. Numerous machines using thermoplastic resins and carbon fiber were built, working with Forte Carbon for everything from prototyping composite fasteners for aerospace to combat boot soles for the army. Michael was also featured on Vision Systems Design's July 2006 cover for designing and building a first-of-kind, automated machine-vision device, work he completed for PVI Systems, Inc.

For more than thirty years, Michael has provided clients with experience in mechanical and electrical power systems, construction and maintenance engineering, machine design, computer aided design, vibration analysis, and finite element analysis. Educated at Texas A&M University, he holds degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Modern Languages, and is fluent in French and Spanish. Mike is a member of the American Nuclear Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Welding Society, Connecticut Marine Trades Association, Texas A&M Association of Former Students, Eastern Connecticut and the Greater Mystic Chambers of Commerce.
